Equine-connected EMDR intensive trauma retreats in Colorado
Boutique EMDR Intensives, Trauma Therapy, and Retreat Experiences
Insight is important, but understanding your story isn’t always enough to heal it. These personalized EMDR intensive trauma therapy experiences combine EMDR, parts work, attachment-focused therapy, nature-based experiences, and equine connection to help you move beyond coping and into lasting transformation. Together, we’ll create the time, safety, and support needed to work with the roots of what feels stuck.
You’ve talked about it in therapy, and you’ve understood it, so why does it still hurt?

No. A Place Along the Way is an out-of-network, private-pay practice specializing in highly individualized EMDR intensives and retreat experiences. Many clients choose this format because it offers a depth and flexibility that insurance-funded care often cannot. We are committed to making this work as accessible as possible and are happy to discuss payment plans, sliding scale options, and other financial considerations during your consultation.

No. No horse experience is necessary. The horses are partners in the therapeutic process, not something you need to know how to ride or handle. We will meet you exactly where you are, whether you've spent a lifetime with horses or have never touched one before.
-
Not at all. Intensives are designed to complement, not replace, ongoing therapy. Many clients continue working with their existing therapist before and after their intensive. With your permission, I am happy to collaborate with your therapist to support continuity of care.
-
The length of your intensive will depend on your goals, history, and the complexity of the experiences you would like to address. We will determine the best fit during your consultation. While some clients benefit from a single half-day or full-day intensive, individuals working through complex trauma often find that three to five days allows for deeper and more lasting work.
-
On-site lodging is available for multi-day intensive clients, allowing you to remain immersed in the healing process without the added stress of arranging accommodations. We'll discuss lodging options during your consultation.
-
Nourishment is included with every intensive experience. Food is prepared with seasonal ingredients and your individual needs in mind, allowing you to stay present in your healing rather than worrying about logistics. You’re also welcome to explore the wonderful local restaurants in Golden, Nederland, and Boulder during your stay.

Every intensive is tailored to you. Sessions may include EMDR, parts work, nervous system regulation, equine connection, nature-based experiences, mindfulness practices, and time for reflection and integration. Together, we'll create an experience that aligns with your goals and needs.

Feeling deeply is not the same as being unsafe. A core part of our work is helping you stay connected to your body, your resources, and your capacity while processing difficult experiences. We move at a pace that honors both courage and nervous system safety.
