Hi, I’m Michaela!
Michaela Uttley

Hi, I'm Michaela.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDR therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and equine assisted psychotherapist specializing in trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, attachment wounds, and life transitions. As a queer clinician, I am passionate about creating affirming and inclusive spaces and especially welcome members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I am dual certified in Natural Lifemanship as both an Equine Professional and Licensed Mental Health Professional and bring nearly 27 years of experience with horses into my work. I believe the horse human relationship offers powerful opportunities for connection, healing, and growth. Find my Natural Lifemanship directory listing and credentials here.
I created intensive therapy experiences for people who are ready to move beyond coping and into meaningful, lasting change. Through a personalized blend of EMDR, parts work, somatic approaches, nature, and equine assisted psychotherapy, we create the space to explore what has been keeping you stuck and reconnect with the version of yourself that feels most authentic and alive.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply compassionate. Whether you're navigating old wounds, a major life transition, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
In my free time I am most likely to be found somewhere in nature, with animals, or singing my favorite songs. I enjoy reading and writing poetry, discovering new music, or relaxing on a big fluffy couch watching my favorite comfort TV shows. I’ve also written blogs for my Pennsylvania practice reflecting my personal and professional passions with titles such as: Supporting Development Through Relationship, Maybe it’s Attachment, Not “Mixed Signals”, We Won the Blue Ribbon but We Were Both Falling Apart, and When Two Breaths Share the Same Sky: Grief, Despair, and the Strange Light of Healing
Beyond my clinical work, I'm honored to be a co-author of the Long Story Short; You Survive, a therapeutic journaling resource designed to help people explore healing, relationships, identity, grief, and resilience through guided reflection inspired by Taylor Swift's songwriting. Creating this journal was an opportunity to blend my love of evidence-based psychology with the power of storytelling, music, and meaningful self-reflection. It reflects the same philosophy that guides my work with clients: healing happens when we feel safe enough to become curious about our own stories.
Watch KaDee Strickland share why she believes this journal is such a meaningful resource for healing. KaDee is known for playing Dr. Charlotte King on Private Practice, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series, as well as roles in Chicago Fire, The grudge, Fever Pitch, and American Gangster:
